Your First Raid Goal
The goal of your first raid is not to master the game. It is to understand the loop: prepare your Trampler, enter the field, gather information, manage danger, and leave with something useful.
Because SAND is in Early Access, avoid memorizing exact details from old videos. Use the current game client as the final source for map prompts, objectives, and exit behavior.
Before You Deploy
Before entering a raid, do a basic readiness check:
- Confirm your Trampler is usable.
- Bring only what you are comfortable risking.
- Decide what kind of information you want to learn.
- Leave space for items you may bring back.
- Check whether a recent patch changed core systems.
Keep the plan small. A first raid with a clear goal is more valuable than a long run where you cannot tell what went wrong.
During The Raid
Move carefully and listen for signs of activity. If you see signs of another crew or a dangerous fight, do not rush in. Let the situation develop before committing.
Useful early actions include scouting, learning how your Trampler feels, and noticing how quickly risk builds when your inventory starts to matter.
When Combat Starts
If combat happens, focus on survival and information. Watch how quickly the situation changes, how your Trampler supports you, and whether staying in the fight is worth the risk.
Do not assume a fixed weapon choice or tactic will solve every encounter. Player behavior and updates can change what works.
When To Leave
A successful first raid can be short. Once you have learned something or secured useful items, consider leaving instead of adding more risk.
Follow the current in-game instructions for extraction. Do not rely on old descriptions of exact locations, timers, or map behavior without verifying them in the live build.
After The Raid
Write down what confused you. Your next raid should answer one of those questions. This keeps progression controlled and prevents the early game from turning into random losses.
